Decathlon Store LED Lighting Upgrade – Indonesia

Decathlon Store LED Lighting Upgrade – Indonesia

Project Overview

FusionBrite partnered with Decathlon Indonesia to upgrade the lighting systems across multiple retail locations in Jakarta. The project focused on replacing outdated metal halide and fluorescent fixtures with high‑performance linear LED track lighting, delivering superior colour accuracy and significant energy savings.

Key Result: 55% reduction in energy consumption with improved shopper engagement.

Background

Decathlon, one of the world’s largest sporting goods retailers, operates numerous high‑traffic stores throughout Indonesia. Prior to the upgrade, stores relied on:

  • 400W metal halide track lights
  • T8 fluorescent battens
  • Halogen downlights in fitting rooms

These systems created several operational challenges:

  • Poor colour rendering (CRI ~65)
  • High heat output increasing cooling loads
  • Frequent lamp replacements due to short lifespans
  • Uneven illumination across product zones

Challenge

The lighting upgrade needed to address four core constraints:

  1. Visual Merchandising – Accurate colour rendering for apparel, footwear, and equipment.
  2. Energy Efficiency – Reduce electricity consumption in a high‑humidity tropical climate.
  3. Flexibility – Support frequent store layout changes and seasonal displays.
  4. Maintenance Reduction – Minimize disruptions in busy retail environments.

Solution

FusionBrite designed and installed a high‑CRI linear LED track lighting system, engineered specifically for sports retail environments.

Products Installed

  • 320+ Linear LED Track Fixtures
    • CRI > 90 for true‑to‑life colour reproduction
    • 4000K neutral white for balanced visual comfort
    • Adjustable beam angles (30°–60°) for accent and general lighting
  • Recessed LED Panels
    • Installed in fitting rooms and checkout zones
    • Uniform 500 lux illumination
  • Smart Lighting Controls
    • Daylight harvesting in perimeter zones
    • Occupancy sensors in low‑traffic areas

Technical Highlights

  • Thermal Management – Optimized heat dissipation for Indonesia’s tropical humidity.
  • Optical Design – Asymmetric lenses to eliminate glare on vertical merchandise walls.
  • Modular System – Track‑mounted fixtures allow rapid repositioning during seasonal resets.

Results

The retrofit delivered measurable improvements across energy, maintenance, and commercial performance.

Why This Matters for Sports Retail

Sports retail lighting must balance:

  • Colour Accuracy – Critical for apparel and equipment.
  • Flexibility – Stores frequently reconfigure layouts.
  • Energy Efficiency – Essential in tropical climates with high cooling demands.

For Decathlon Indonesia, the upgrade was not just a cost‑saving measure—it became a visual merchandising advantage.
